Once the problem is fixed does the cpu clear itself and erase the error code ? I changed the thermostat and then I got this code after about 10 miles ?????????????? new fuel pump about 100 miles ago

Default RE: ERROR CODE PO442

Yes, the PCM will clear the code after a few drive cycles.

P0442 Explained will tell you what you need to know. You did not cause this code by replacing the thermostat.

Default RE: ERROR CODE PO442

I thought I had fixed the error,, found the gas tank vent hose had been cut when the gas tanks was removed for the r&r of fuel pump. replaced hose cleared cpu by disconnecting batt, after about 15 starts and 80 miles I hit a bump in the road and the error light came back on , here we go again !! are the connections at the tank push on ??
