Default EVAP Purge solenoid - P0442

Hi guys, so I thought I was finally all done with check engine codes, but this one came back recently. 2000 Chevy Blazer LT 4-door 4x4.

My questions is regarding the EVAP purge solenoid on the intake manifold. Is it normally closed, and opened with power, or the opposite? Reason being, I've watched some youtube videos and a few have tested the EVAP purge solenoid by applying a vacuum or blowing into it, and if it let air through, it was bad. Pretty simple. Now when I take off mine and blow into it, it definitely leaks. Even if I block off the bottom of the valve and blow into where the purge line is usually connected, the air lets out the top, where the electrical connector usually plugs in! It's definitely not an AC delco part, I believe I changed this years ago with something from Autozone.

If I can determine that this purge solenoid is bad, I'll roll with it for a while and see if that clears up my code. If not, then I'm gonna get a smoke test done and stop throwing parts at it. I'll have more questions regarding the proper way about doing a smoke test when it comes down to it. I don't have a scanner to open/close the vent/purge valves.

Thanks
