Evaporator replacement - Recommendations requested

Hey everyone. Well I am in deep this time. The threads are in really bad shape on the evaporator and liquid line. Not even sure why, but I was only able to put it back together crossthreaded. Held vacuum and pressure for 4 days. Looks like I am in for a new evaporator to complete this repair. Local shop wants over $1000 to replace it plus charging, which is not an option. Any recommendations on an easy way of replacing it without having to tear everything apart to get to the unit?
Also that golden line nut: Is it harder metal than the threads? I want to see if I can save that even though it was crossthreaded. Otherwise, what is the best way to remove it from the condenser? It is in a hard place to get to. Thanks

Not really sorry to say. The instructions say you need to take the fender off but you don't just the tire and inner well. Battery tray out and top condenser line off will let you get the bottom one.
If you don't care too much you could most likely cut the top right quarter off with a dremal and cutting wheel and glue it back together.
Maybe loosen all the screws you can and pry but I think you will most likely hear a very disturbing plastic snapping sound.
