Factory Alarm!!!

Factory Alarm!!!
The factory alarm on my 2000 blazer is driving me absolutely crazy! Luckily, the siren quit working at some point in time, but the alarm will arm itself and lock the doors--not good. The alarm is useless at this point and more of a liability for me to be locked out!
Does anyone know how I can disable the factory alarm? Or is there a way to change how the alarm arms?

I've never seen a factory alarm with a siren, they all use the vehicles' horn(s). I also have not heard of a factory alarm that locks the doors passively. Those are both usually aftermarket alarm features.
Start by looking under the driver side dash area for black plastic boxes that have been taped and/or spliced into the original wiring. In most cases you can fully remove these aftermarket systems and other than a starter interlock relay (make sure yellow start wire is not cut and run to a relay), will have no ill effect.
Would be best to have it removed by someone who has installed them before.
Please proceed with caution if you decide to remove it.

I agree the system sounds aftermarket.
As for removing the stock system- you can read for hours and hours on it, but it basically boils down to, there's no easy or simple way to do it.

Interesting. I am 99% sure it is factory alarm. I know the original owner well and there was a factory alarm equipped sticker on the drivers window.
Maybe I'll just leave it alone.

The "Theft Deterrent" is called PassLock and that shuts down the injectors if the key turn is not sensed properly.
Aftermarket Alarms include the Siren and Passive locking feature, and quite a few others.
Find a friend who has installed an aftermarket Alarm/Remote Start, they should know what to look for and help you out.
