Question failing smog check p0466 code

I have a problem trying to pass smog. I pulled the code p0466 which i found out is a clogged canister vent solenoid. I have a 01' blazer 4 dr, 4x4,. i had check the vent solenoid that is next to the spare and had a little dust but nothing major tried my best to blow it all out checked lines coming from charcoal canister all clear again blew some air in cannister and a lot of dust came out. btw i had lost gas cap for a week it has been replaced since Is there something i am missing or is there a way to test the vent solenoid? Could it be something with the gas tank?

WoW thanks again this is some great info i will start doing a deeper inveatigation today after work. And pick up a vacuum at the auto shop on my way. I have suspicion it might do something with my fuel pump because my gauge is always empty but that could be a whole other reason.

No.. thank YOU! The best way to learn to fish is to ask in such a way that it's apparent you just want pertinent info in order to fish.
The worst way to learn is to ask for the fish to be handed to you.

It's a win-win. I assemble knowledge on the fail, meaning I learn, too. And you get more confidence in your own troubleshooting abilities.

And neither of us chances coming out looking dumb.
- and I HOPE you caught on to my search methods. A GOOD search skill can find anything, with patience.
