Filler Neck
I am in the process of replacing the fuel pump on my 2001 GMC Jimmy SLS (2 door). I got the tank unstrapped and i was trying to lower it down. Then it stopped and i remembered i had to disconnect the filler neck from the tank. The problem is, The clamp that holds it on is facing the wrong way and i have no access to the screw side. to make things worse, I cant even get my hands up there to touch the clamp. Any suggestions on what i should do or ideas to how to get it off? thanks in advance
Remove the three screws at the gas cap, then you will be able to drop it out, though you will have to do some fancy moving about. There is also a anti-static strap that is bolted to the crossmember that you'll have to undo.
Or, just cut both the filler hose and vent hose with a knife and replace them when you reinstall the tank. IMHO, this is the better method as these hoses are now ten years old.

I did already remove the three screws. it still seems caught up on something. Could it be the other line that comes in next to the filler neck? because the same problem with the clamp is on that too.
to take mine off I put a 3" body in it then I had enough room to access it(wait I guess that's the only reason I took it off in the first place...) but I guess that won't help you...
there are clamps on the tank side as well as the filler side, can you acess either? the rubber hose isn't that long, most of it is metal. If it helps, the rear bumper isn't hard to take off. But if you dont need to, leave it on.
