I finally put my 2000 LT 4x4 4.3 106K in the shop for fuel pump replacement. So far (As of yesterday) the bill is around 680.00 and change and tax! I would have done it myself, but the old weather here in AZ is kicking up to the 100 degree plus mark. Plus getting old and just didn't want to fool with it. I still have the transmission flush to do myself when it gets back. Already have the filter kit for it. Then there is the door motor, have it also, but the window only hangs some times worse in the winter...so I'll wait on that...hahahahahahaha..

 

Make sure they installed a oem pump or they are going to hate replacing that pump for you.

 

What do you mean "Hot in AZ". I never remember it getting hot when I lived in Yuma for 7 years..then again I was young and well lubricated. For $680 it should be a Delco pump. Mine was about the same and the shop gave me a life time warranty on the pump. I also could have done it myself but since the wife said she would pay for it who am I to argue.

 

Here in Juneau Ak it was 396 for the AC Delco pump after tax from our local NAPA.

My friend had a mechanic class at the university and the whole process took about two and a half or three hours to take my 98 LS from having to be towed across town, to starting right up the first time I turned the key

 

AC Delco or Delphi fuel pump, don't settle for anything else..... at any price.

 

I got the Delphi pump and the total cost with tax's was 728.00. He look at the discharge (Battery/Alt) and said it look fine and run it for around 30 min and the guage needle showing a little on the plus side and that where it should be with everything on to incu the A/C. I get back in it start it up (1st start, hoooah) Needle was top dead center and as I drove it home the needle started dropping to the left dischage. I put the charger on the battery, it started at 10 amps and took 1 1/2 hr to re-charge at 12 volts deep cycle. Now thats telling me something is not right. The mech said these blazers are known for bad Ing switch's and that might be it and when he check it, it was okay but when I got into it, it was bad again...I really like this old truck (SUV), but, if its going to start dollaring me to deaf, its got to go...109 here yesterday...suppose to be 98 today we will see....had to get a ride with neigbor to get my blazer back and he had a volkswagon with no air...sure glad that was a short trip..I'm spoil now....hahahaha.

No there new. They get them from a wholesaler that's going fishing and needs to liquidate. Thats why the 30 day warranty by law there already second-hand.

 

I miss AZ sometimes...well, I say 'miss'...

I'm not surprised at nearly $700 for a fuel pump replacement, I've been quoted $900 before. Admittedly it's highway robbery...but it has the advantage of not having to mess with it yourself.
