Default FIRE! 2000 Trailblazer

My 2000 Trailblazer caught on fire when I put it into 4 wheel drive. Anybody ever hear about this happening or what could have caused this. Luckily I had a mountain dew so the fire didn't get too big.

Like actually caught fire as in you seen flames? Or like something got hot and started smoking?

Is this 2000 an actual Trailblazer, or is it a Trailblazer trim level S10 Blazer? Where did it happen, in the dash? Under the truck? Under the hood? Need more info to diagnose.

I've personally never heard of that happening before.

Happened under where the flashlight is pointing

Looking straight down from where the flashlight was, those two hoses

Looking through the left wheel well

Looks totally unrelated to the 4x4 being engaged. There's nothing in those pictures that is related to the 4x4 system. Sounds like it was just a coincidence that it happened when you put it in 4wd.

By the looks of it, your spark plug wires leaned against the exhaust manifold and melted and caught ablaze... I'm assuming the truck started running like garbage at this point, like it was about to stall? Because it looks like you would have lost spark on at least 2 cylinders.

It looks like the bracket that holds the plug wires is missing in your photos, so that would explain how they managed to come into contact with the manifold.
