Default flashing engine light

Everytime I accelerate and reach speeds over 130 KPH my engine light starts to flash untill I slow down, Now I know this is a misfire, although I don't feel it, but what do I need to replace to have this fixed? spark plugs are about a year and a half old, ac delco platnums. should I change the wires and distributor cap and rotor? anything else.

thanks

Grab yourself an old spray bottle and clean it out. Fill it with water and go outside at night and mist down the wires with the truck running. If you see sparks jumping out of the wires, it's time to replace them. You can also pull the cap and look for deposits on the posts inside. If there are carbon trails leading away from the posts or from post to post, then you need to replace the cap and rotor.

Oh yeah, what year/engine vehicle are we talking about. You may want to head on over to Autozone/Advanced/etc and get the codes scanned just so you know what the PCM is actually telling you.

its a 2001 trailblazer, how hard is it to replace the cap and rotor and wires? could I do it myself or is it an extensive job? only use ac parts?

For cap/rotor, I prefer the Napa Echlin line of parts. For wires, I have used Belden Premium wires, again from Napa, for years. If I have ever had a problem, the lifetime warranty was always upheld.

You're looking at around $120-$150 for parts and it isn't too bad of a job. The most difficult part is getting the wires routed again.

It's pretty simple, the way the wires on the cap are laid out it's a no-brainer which wires go where. Only thing that scared me was putting the little screws in the rotor. They're not attached to it so be careful not to drop them IN the distributor while getting them in there. (also very happy with his Echlin/NAPA ignition parts). Easiest way to get to the plugs to change 'em and wrestle the wires off is jacked up, front tires off, they're behind that rubber flap. Center plug, drivers side is ,well, a pain.... make sure flat side of steering shaft is facingthe spark plug.(when you see it you'll understand) I do it with the extension not clicked into the socket so I have a bit of "wobble"
