I have discovered that there is a leak under the passenger front seat carpet. It get wet when driving in rain. Haven't seen it when it is standing still and it rains on it.
Removing the plastic strip I see that the clips are rusted away and it is only one left that holds the strip. I think that the water spray from the right front wheel creeps in at the rusted clips.
Is this a known problem? I haven't yet tried to spray with a hose to see it water gets in there.
Are these clips available as parts from somewhere?
I'm going to seal this up anyway to prevent any more water to creep in there.
I have now tested with a hose from underside and one of the clips let water through and this is probably the cause of my we mats on the passenger side front floor.
That area to rust through is a known problem since the 1st gen's.
Also in the driver and passenger foot well the frame supports tend to rust through.
An additonal part, especially where salt is used in winter is the joint of the firewall into the floor pan. That part is exposed in the aft of the wheel well and usually covered by spray on protection. Still rusts away beneath.
When swapping my engine I will have to address this issue on my 1st gen as well.

Thanks, I will seal it up when I get the new clips.
