Fram oil filters

I like the Fram filters because of the black grip stuff on the ends... makes them easy to install and remove. I know some people have had problems with bursting filters when running high pressure oil pumps on race engines. I have had good luck with the Fram XG3950 filter on my stock engines though.

You will hear all kinds of opinions here and other forums, I'm sure. I've used Fram filters without problems and have yet to hear anyone have any problems, let alone catastrophic failures.
However, I prefer to use AC Delco filters, providing I can find them. Do some research and you'll find quite a few different brands of filters are made by just a couple or three companies.

I have personally had 2 engine failures directly related to Fram filters so my opinion is based on personal experience. Now, mind you, both of these failures happened a number of years ago so their quality has likely changed, but I still will not use them due to the amount of money they have cost me.
The first failure was at the pinch seam and this was on a >100k mile 350 with stock oil pump. This was about 10 years ago.
The next was on my dad's K2500 with a brand new Jasper engine on it's 2nd oil change ~8 years ago. Another pinch seam failure and a trashed crank.
I like the Napa Gold / Wix filters as well as the Purolator PureOne filters. When I did the last oil change on my Rainier, Autozone had a deal for any synthetic oil and a K&N filter which brought the price of the filter down to about the same as the PureOne so I went with that.

For my normal priced filter I go with AcDelco,if there i an oil deal with filter I will go with it unless its fram. Ive had two frams crumple up to the point where I had to use a screwdriver to get it out,and on another auto it warps due to the headers and starts weeping oil onto them.
