Default Front Axle Bearings

Has anyone had problems or changed front axle bearings, I have a 2001, I have changed both front wheel bearings and both front axles. I still have a noise in the front end while driving, it sounds like a humming or a roaring while driving. Thanks

your brakes worn unevenly? are your tires cambered out at all? you may need an alignment

No it is not tire related, I have replaced all 4 ball joints, idler arm and rotated the tires, no change in the noise, and it is still there. Front brake pads and rotors have also been replaced.

But did you get it aligned? When you do all that you defianely need an alignment or your gonna get noise and/or vibration and it will be hard on your tires and suspension.

I have the same problem with my 02. The noise sounded like bearings on the pass. side, so $165 later I still have the same noise. I engaged the 4wd and the noise stopped. I put it back in 2wd and no noise. I still get the same noise on occasion and it goes away when 4wd is turned on then off. I assume this has something to do with the 4wd.

I looked at some old posts and I think the 4x4 actuator under the battery tray has a vacuum leak, The three port vacuum switch on the transfer case is bad or the vacuum lines are leaking making the 4wd partially engage.

just cause you rotated tires does nothing for the alignment.
