Default Front Axle housing seals and bearings removal

I own a 1998 Chevy Blazer part time 4X4. I need to know, do you really need too remove the shaft tube housing for removing and installing seals and bearings, can I work with the tube house assembly bolted to the frame? Please reply ASAP

You can change the cv axle seals while on the vehicle. Not too hard.

bearings you will need to remove and disassemble the front differential. the seals you can do with it in the truck. if the bearings arent bad leave them alone those things suck to get out of these trucks

You mean only tube housing where the seals and bearings is sitted, right.
The seals and bearings are sitted at bell of the housing, why? the seals and
bearing cann't be remove together and not have to remove the tube housing from
the front differential.

I am having an issue replacing/installing my new cv axel shaft. I replaced 2 times already, 3rd soon,. My question is when i removerd the old shaft a 12" steel rod also.
When I bought the new shaft it didnt have the 12' steel rod, the guy poped it off for me. Well I slipped it back in and gave it a gentle hit to assue myself it popped in. In repalcing new shaft I put back in as the way I took out. The new axel seemed to make thumping noise and a rumbling noise. Any suggestions? Is there a specific way to properly install cv shaft? It seemed like a very easy job. 1998 s10 4x4
