Default Front End Popping In Reverse

My 2002 2WD Blazer makes a loud popping/clunking noise from the passenger side front wheel (pretty sure its passenger side) while I am backing up and turning the steering wheel hard to the left, it started about 6 months ago, took it to the shop, but they could find no problem, at that time it was fairly intermittent, now it has progressed to where it does it every time, and also has the added symptom of a binding/bumpy feeling in addition to the popping noise, and again, this only happens while backing up slowly from a dead stop, and at the same time turning the steering wheel hard to the left. Anyone out there have the answer, I sure would appreciate it!!!

sounds like upper control arm bushings. roll back slow, have someone watch the top of wheel while u stab the brakes and look for movement at the top of the wheel, you will def know when u see it. for the heck of it look at the bottom coil of the spring look for a broken piece and make sure shock buchings are ok, just pry the bottom around and the stem up top look at for sign of wear aor if you can wobble it around by hand

have you checked the ujoint knuckel? i had that too in my 89 blazer. we took it off and there was a lot of movement. it started off as just happening in reverse but after a while it was noticeable while in drive as well as reverse

Default Front end noise

My 95 S-10 was doing the same thing. I had 3 ball joints replaced before I found out it was a hub bearing. Sounds strange but after I replaced the hub(it is sealed unit) the noise went away. It drove me and a few mechanics crazy trying to find the noise. I, too, thought it was the bushings and bought A-frame bushings but never put them in.

Hey jimnva, are you talking about wheel bearings?

Default Front End Popping

The wheel bearings and hub are a sealed unit. You have to replace the entire hub .
