Fuel gage

Wouldn't you know. I just finished replacing the fuel pump in my 96 S-10. During this process, though no fault of my own, (or I did do it, hell i don't know) something happened to the fuel gage. It's not reading the right level in the tank. The half tank mark is my new empty. Now granted this is no major problem, but it annoys me. What did I do? and how can i fix it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If the ground connection to the tank (sending unit) was compromised, this could cause an incorrect reading.
Was the sending unit replaced with the rest of the fuel pump assembly? If so, it is also possible that you got a defective unit.

Hi, wondering if you might be able to help me w/ a fuel system question. Am getting the low fuel light on my 2000 Blazer at about 175 miles. It generally takes about 14.5 gallons, making the mileage around 14+ - not too bad during the winter.
So why would I get a low fuel light with approx 5 gallons left in the tank?? (just had the fuel pump replaced by a prof mechanicdue to low fuel pressure).
Any ideas??

I don't know about you, I think the sending units are frail or something.
Not long after I bought my 2000 blazer, the fuel gauge went south. It will stay on full for about a half a tank, then it will bounce every so often. When its starting to get really low it will bounce often and fast. I usually go by mileage and after 300 just fill it back up, no big deal. The dealership told me it would be around $500.00 to fix it, I don't feel like messing with it, and it just isn't worth it to me. Anyway, just thought I would share my thoughts.

Did you bend the wire supporting the float rod?
