Fuel Pump!!
I have an 00 blazer with almost 93k miles on it. I have never had the fuel pump replaced. How do you know when it is time for a new fuel pump? so i don't get stuck somewhere and my car won't start. Just wanna play it safe and see if my fuel pump is needing to be replaced. I know the first sign of needing a new fuel pump is the car won't start and the pressure is bad. supposed to be 60 psi or something. Right now my blazer starts just fine, no problems at all. I use 89 ocotane gas from sunoco and use fuel additives every 3k miles. And on friday i have to get my brakes inspected and probably they have to install new brake pads and rotors as well as my motor mount. I have no idea how to do all of that. When messing with something as important as brakes and motor parts i'd rather a pro do it. Plus, it would take me hours and hours if i tried, just dont have the equipment either. Hope my fuel pump is still good, its expensive to replace i am sure. I heard like over $250 for just the part.
I replaced mine about 5 months ago, and it sucked!!! When the truckstarts acting like it doesnt wanna start, then u'll know. Just the fuel pump cost me around $300.00 Just make sure when you replace it that you dont have a full tank.
Yes, hahaha, When I replaced my fuel pump for the first time I had JUST
got done toping off the tank. Sucked so bad to have to syphen (spelling?) all that gas
out of the tank.
BUT, MAKE SURE, that you do not go to autozone for the fuel pump. Go directly to the dealer
and buy the pump that was maid for that car. I bought my first fuel pump from autozone (because it
was cheaper than the dealer one) and it onlyput out a measly 40psi of pressure in my system.
The second time, I went to the dealer and it works like it was suppose to.
Also, when I went to autozone, and tried to return the wrong/faulty fuel pump.
They tried to give me a hard time. It was only a month after I bought it,
and still under the 1 year warrenty. They tried to tell me that I had
to send it to the manufacturer to get a replacement, and only a replacement.
Not a refund. .... that was, Unitll I mentioned BBB. Then they coughed the money right up.
Just dont go through the hassle of autozone.
