Hi all, My Blazer wouldn't start today due to no fuel to engine, I couldn't hear the pump working so I bypassed the fuel pump relay but still nothing. So I tried again this morning when it was much cooler and after about 20 seconds cranking it started. So question is, do I have a fuel pump problem, a priming/vapour lock issue or something else ? Any ideas ?

Its a 1999, 4.3 engine

 

I think the problem is almost certainly the fuel pump, if I turn the ignition on and off several times i can hear the pump and the engine starts. As I have an LPG fuel system, it only starts on petrol so most of the time the pump is off anyway, I've tried an emergency start on LPG which is fine as long as ambient tempreture is warm enough.
So next qusetion, how difficult is pump to fit, how much is one and does anyone know a company which ships to the UK ?

 

I ordered a pump from 'parts4chevys.com' They shipped to me here in France so I am sure they will ship to UK. Have you tried Bauer Millett in Manchester. Cost of pump will be about the same but you will save on shipping, I used them all the time when I lived in UK. I fitted the new assembly here in the wilds of Normandy, biggest tip is to ensure tank is empty, petrol weighs a lot!!

Well, that puts a whole different slant on the problem.
I doubt if there are many of us here who are familiar with an LPG fuel system, but who knows.

 

The LPG system shouldn't really affect the problem as starting is always done on petrol, unless I use the emergency gas start. I don't know if the LPG system switches off the fuel pump when running on gas or just returns all the fuel (petrol) to the tank, either of these may have casued the demise of the pump ! I've not had a fuel pump go in 20 years of various cars though.
