Default fuel pump?

i have a 1997 blazer. it has issues starting after it sits a while like 5 or moree hours. of i try to normaly start it it will crank till the battery dies and will not start. now what i have to do it turn the key so just the accessories come on than back off. do that like 10 time before trying to crank and it will start after doing that most of the time.

i hear the pump runnig but idk if it could just be weak or maybe its the regulator? when it does start it feels like it is lacking power. at the moment iam away from home for a few weeks so cant really check fuel preasure but if i have to to i can drop the tank where iam staying. i did change the fuel filter and it didnt help the situation any..

thanks

Sounds like a weak fuel pump to me but the only way to verify that is to check the fuel pressure. Use the 96+ fuel system diagnoses located on the main page of this forum. I had to do the same trick you are doing ( turning the key on and off several times) when mine was going out but trust me, that trick will only so long before the pump gives out completely.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

You can do that but you will most likely have to drop the tank within a few months and do it all over. Just get the ACDelco pump. It is the most trustworthy one out there right now.

There are eBay sellers that sell just the pumps, but there is some work involved in replacing just the pump inside the plastic sending unit and the chances of breaking something are not outside the realm of possibility. And as stated, after you get done, you may not have the reliability that a full AC Delco pump assembly would offer.

ok thanks for your input but money is tight found one for 90 bucks gonna get that than in a couple months ill get the ac delco one. just had a 600 dollar vet bill. than today a tire blew out on the highway wich was 189 bucks and while replacing tire noticed the sterring idler was bad... hopefully the pump will last till next week. well thanks agian at least now i know what brann pump is best for these ans will do it right soon just dont have the extra cash right nnow. figure even a cheap new one is better than what i got. oh and by the way nnoticed when i had it on the lift the fuel tank is metal most of the pumps i found say only good inn a plastic tannk. whats the differance?

Make sure you check...Amazon OF ALL PLACES for the pump...I bought a Delphi pump for 234 shipped. Local parts stores wanted 444.00! Spend the extra hundred now...or you'll most likely be paying for a TOW AND a new pump later....just from what I have read on the forums...

k well new pump finally came in yesturday. went to put it in this moring and i thought i had the wrong one for a min. mine has a 4 pring square connector and the one they gave me has a 4 prong rectangle connector. wheni went to put it back in the box to send it back i saw that they sent me a new male end that i have to splice onto the truck. my question is that there are 2 blk wires a purple and a grey does it matter where the blk ones go? i wouldnt think cause they should be grounds right?
