If I were you I would change the fuel pump. It happened to me on Friday on my way up north. The fuel pump been acting weird but I been holding it off. All the sudden Friday it went out 150 miles north from home

Having replaced my fuel pump once...with a Delco of couse. In my case it was a total failure but when the pressure is low is it possible that the fuel pressure regulator is bad? I have no idea how the FPR actually works unless it's similar to a plumbing pressure switch.

Well,if it was the fuel regulator,USUALLY what would happen is he would turn the key on,it would rise to 60ish psi, then gradually loose pressure as it sits. within a few min. I dont think ive seen a regulator bad enough to drop to 38psi immediately.

edit :

tab to empty the tank you can disconnect the fuel filter, run some hose off of it into a bucket. Then pull off the relay for the fuel pump and take a paperclip and start crossing prongs that the relay plugs into until the pump gets constant power.Just remember to remove the clip once done.

Have 2 other people and you there. One person control the jack and other two hold each ends of the tank. Bring it out and set it on higher ground with gas jugs on the ground. Put the hose in the tank to the gas jugs and sucks it out but when you start to smell the fuel fumes coming up then put it in the jugs. DON'T TRY TO SHALLOW THE FUEL IT WILL TAKES ALMOST ALL DAY TO GET RID OF THE TASTE. It happened to me last year when I did it for the first time.
