Fuel Pump or Assembly?

Fuel Pump or Assembly?
I'm getting conflicting answers. No sound from fuel pump when you turn the key forward. So pump is bad. One mechanic says you need the whole assembly, like this one:

Another says all I need is the pump itself, like this one:

There is a $360.00 difference in cost between the two parts.

4 door
4.3L
V6
Thanks in advance...

The second one is a mechanical pump. It is not for your car. Any decent pump for the new 4.3s is between 3 to 400 dollars and is located in your fuel tank. If a mechanic is really telling you to get the second one then slowly back away from him and NEVER EVER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER, go back to his shop ever again. The mechanical one does not make noise anyway regardless if it is working or shot.

Some one has their wires crossed. I think he either told you wrong or you misunderstood what he was telling you. The 2nd one will not work on your vehicle. It is a mechanical pump for a carbuerated engine, not a fuel injected engine.
That mechanic may have meant the electric pump only instead of the assembly with the fuel guage sending unit etc.
