Default Fuel pump difference?

Does anyone actually know what it different from the 2dr to 4dr fuel pumps. You think GM would cut costs by using the same pumps.

2 dr tanks are larger by a gallon. Tank height is different because the tire does not mount under the tank on a 2 dr. Therefore, pump housings are taller on a 2 dr, and the level sensor arm is longer.
The pump itself is the same, the housing assembly is what's different.
The tanks on S10 pickups are a different size housing also.

You might also check with Tre_Performance and order just their pump and fit it into your old housing. Their pumps (they say) meet or exceed OEM specs as they are racing engine oriented. Should cost around $100 for their kit to modify your existing housing. But if your sending unit is also affecting your gas gauge, their pump is just a pump replacement.

Keep in mind that yours is also used. Check on eBay and Amazon for an AC Delco or Delphi complete module assembly. Do the job right one time and be done.

Still thinking of going with the old steel style and a high output pump.
