Default fuel pump issue ??? plz help

i started my 98blazer normaly this morning, suddenly the fuel pump made a strange STALL noise and the engine stoped, there is contact, the fuel pump still working but with a grindy noise :S i start the engine but seems like no fuel arriving to the engine,i found the fuel filter beside the chassi in a metal housing..but cant find the fuel PUMP,so where do i find the pump?? is it submercible?? is it a pump issue, but i still hear the pump noise, or the filter may be stuck with dirt ?

plz where do i locate the fuel pump?? i'' replace it with a new on .. so the filter....
and by the way,if replace my stock exhaust box with a sport one(empty inside) will it increase fuel consumption ??

Pretty sure the pump is in the tank.

Definitely sounds like he pump has crapped out if it's making grinding noises. The "Do It Yourself" section has information on going about testing fuel pressure and if necessary changing the fuel pump.

Try a search pn fuel pump replacement and you'll find all kinds of info. including knowledgeable opinions on brands to use.

Fuel pump is indeed in the tank. Test your fuel pressure prior to replacing the pump just to be sure that the pump is your problem. I would also recommend changing the fuel filter at around the same time.

Sounds like you are gonna be buying a new pump soon. Don't buy a cheap one. What are you referring to as an exhaust box? A free flowing exhaust will actually help your gas mileage but if you drive it more aggressively it will go down.

Either lower the tank or cut a hole in the rear floorboard over the location of the pump access in tank. There's no hole there unless a previous owner cut one out.

You are gonna have to "flat pull" the truck out of there and then have it towed. The garage security and owners will probably freak out if they discover you pulling out the gas tank on their premises.

hahaaaa mission accomplished... dad towed me with his TrailBlazer up to the main road, woowww couldnt believe my eyes, what a strong car, it is really a TRAIL car so i sent my car to the garage, i replaced the fuel pump and the filter with new ones,i lowered the tank... inside the pump housing also we find 2 small filters, woww this car really got safety measures ... 3 mm steel sheet under the tank and 5 mm under the gear box .. i also noticed a great ignition start, the chevy started as a spark

it costs me 85$.. new pump + hoses, 50$ for installation....cant remembre the brand's name... bomba de gasolina (made in u.s.a)
