Default Fuel Pump issues

This all started when I noticed a leak in my gas tank whenever I would fill it up. Got tired of the smell of gas and small leak stain in the garage, so I decided to replace the fuel tank. I thought I would get the fuel tank/fuel pump combo and just swap it all out at once.

The new tank arrived, I drained and dropped the old tank. The new tank came with the new fuel pump electrical connector, so I rewired that all on. I double checked the wiring reconnected all the hoses, and installed the tank. I put about 4 gallons of gas in the gas tank. Cycled the pump on and off a few times like the directions stated. When I went to turn the car on it won't start. I double check all the connections, while doing this I notice that there is no gas in the main fuel line coming off the pump. I thought it was odd that there was nothing that dribbled out.

Everything is reconnected, try again. Still nothing.

Thinking maybe, just maybe I have a faulty fuel pump, I warranty return the tank and pump and get a brand new setup. I've reinstalled it all, including the new electrical adapter. Triple checked all my connections. I'm still having the same issues. I hear the pump when I turn the key to on. I hear the pump when I try to start the car. There is just no gas being pumped to the engine.

I forgot to mention that since installing the new tank/pump the gas gauge doesn't seem to be working either.

I am at a loss for what could be the issue. I've poured a little gasoline into the carburetor and it starts up. There just seems to be no fuel being pumped out of the tank. I've check the fuse and the relay.

If I disconnect the main fuel line off of the fuel pump and start the car, would that be a way to see if fuel is being pumped out? Does anyone have any other suggestions on things to try or look for? I am at a loss for what to do or what could be wrong.

one pump i put in i wired the pump backwards. thought i did right but didnt. The thick wires are the pump and the thinner wires are for the fuel gauge. yes I disconnected to fuel lines and turned the key on. It sprayed gas 5 ft behind my truck. You could also have the fuel lines reversed

I double checked the wires and they are correct. Thick wires (Grey to Grey and black to black) connected. Thin Wires (purple to purple and black/white to black/white). I can hear the pump turn on, but the fuel gauge doesn't seem to move. That is the least of my concerns though. I disconnected the fuel line to the valve marked "F" and started the car, nothing comes out of the pump though. No gas is pushed out of that line at all.

may be time to pull it apart and take another look at the pump itself

This is the second brand new pump that is doing it though. What are the chances that it's 2 bad pumps and not something else? This is furstrating, haha.

Check that you have a good ground (Black to frame)

Also did you use the provided but connectors or did you solder them?

I have tested the voltage and everything seems to be withing acceptable range. I changed out the fuel filter just yesterday too. I am still getting no fuel coming out of the fuel out line of the pump, I disconnected the hose and no gas split out, and when I tried to turn the car on with the hose not attached no gas was pushed out of the line. I just don't understand. I hear the pump turn on! This is driving me crazy.

That's what I was thinking I would do tomorrow. Not excited about it though. Ha.
