So my fuel guage in my truck no longer works right. It will at startup kinda jump all around full half empty so on. Then it generally sits at half and doesnt move unless i fill up my truck past half then it works until i get below half a tank and it sits at half a tank.
Pretty sure this is an issue with my floater thing on my fuel pump in the gas tank.
To go along with all this though. Last summer i went on a good 1000+ miles road trip in like 110 degree weather. I pulled into a gas station shut off the truck then it wouldn't start. pretty sure it was fuel related. I just waited a little while about 30ish min and then it fired up again.
I think this was the fuel pump overheating maybe since i didnt have a full tank and the gas wasnt high enough to keep the pump cool. But i also heard about electrical problems with the fuel pump something about the electrical tails or something.(anyone know about this)
I just wanna figure out my problem before it get to hot and i have this problem again that and i need my fuel guage. Looks like a new pump is like 330 buck on autozone jesus that insane.

Word of warning: Don't buy that Airtex pump from AutoZone. It's garbage.
The pump sits inside a "bucket" of sorts that stays full of gas, so the amount of gas actually in the tank has little effect on the pump itself, or at least thats how it appeared to me when I swapped my pump, and the pump in a 99 Suburban, and the pump in a 99 Silverado.
