Fuel Sending Unit for 97 Blazder
Thegass gaugeon my 1997 Blazer 2dr 4.3 with 4wd fluctuates. From what I have read, this is caused by sulphur buildup on the contacts of the fuel sending unit. Wouldremoving it out and cleaning with electrical cleaning solvent solve the problem? That would be a cheap fix if it would work. A new sending unit sells for about $100.

It is possible, but the sulfur attacks the metal in the sensor grid. The sending unit itself shouldn't be $100... But I guess that depends on your location and where you are looking to buy it. I just wouldn't want to spend all of the time removing it for the repair to not be final.

And that's another reason for the recommendations that Kyle and I make for Techron Concentrate Plus fuel additive. It helps clean off and prevent the sulfur build-up on the sending unit in the tank.
