fuel pump sending unit
I have been calling around to replace my fuel pump sending unit. Some ask me if it is SFKand some don't. Does anyone know what this is all about. I stopped calling because I don't know which one to buy. Mine is a 95 and it does say SFK on the old units wiring tag. thanx. wnk.
Are you sure they aren't asking if it's SFI? vs. CPI. Your '95 should be a CPI motor. How to tell... If you have a large aluminum upper plenum with the word VORTEC on a plastic cover, then you have a CPI motor.
Looks like Autozone has a fuel pump for ~$80...

On the newer models there is a tag on the fuel pump assemble. You cannot buy the fuel pump and sneding unit seperately. Tehy come as one unit. You need that tag code to buy the correct fuel pump assemble. I am not sure what year that started, however they are not cheap. If you can get the fule pump and sending unit seperately, never mind what I just said.
Take the old unit with you when you go buy the new one.

Yeah on the 95 you can replace the pump/ sender seperately. On the 96 and newer models it comes as a whole none servicable unit. WNK, if it bothers you that much go to the place that lists the SFK assembly and purchase that one. I know on the newer vehicles that code is very important to get the right part. Good luck, Korey.
