Hi i have a problem with my 2001 ls 2 door for the last month i have a strong fuel smell coming from around the fuel door. It is always present. And now twice the truck would start and idle for about 10 seconds then stall out so i have looked at the fuel lines and cant see anything wrong. So i was going to get it towed to the shop and went out and the truck started fine and drove normal but still a fuel smell cant figure this one out. I think more and more gremlins are popping up. Any info would be helpful

 

Faulty gas cap? Is it throwing a CEL code?

 

^^ I agree. Also check the filler neck, they like to rust out, and not necessarily leak liquid fuel. You'll need to remove it and inspect it very closely for rust spots where the vent line is welded to the main filler. Dorman Products - 577-805
