i bought my blazer a few months ago and i haven't worried about it to much because there has been other things to work on (transmission) but my gas gauge jumps around no matter how much gas i got in it. so far i have been just filling it all the way up every time i put gas in it but i still want to get it fixed. i was just wondering what other people that have had this problem have done to fix it. btw its a 2000 model if it matters.

 

The sender for the gas gauge is on the pump, in the tank. You could drop the tank, pull the pump and try to fix it(if you can find a new sender unit) or put in a new pump. If its a new pump, make sure its acdelco or delphi. The others are junk. Look on amazon or rock auto .com for the best price

 

The buffer, (electronic shock absorber) in the fuel level sender is faulty. Most likely due to an aftermarket fuel pump module replacement. The level sender can be replaced separately, but requires removing the fuel tank and pump module to do it.

 

mine is doing the same thing but if i have to drop the tank ill just worry about it when the pump starts acting up, i too have other things that need attention first lol. it does not look like its that hard to drop tank just time consuming.

 

 

I have the 1997 SLE , and if your talking about how it kinda bounces maybe like 1/4th or 1/2 an inch... its the Ground wires, there are 6 grounds under the hood.
1 by the antenna, 2 by battery, 1 on the firewall towards left side, 1 on the right side by washer fluid box, and also 1 under the air filter box.

I had all of them cleaned, and once i found the 1 under air filter box, and cleaned it, i haven't seen the fuel gauge bounce since.

 

Mine did the same thing. For a while I just filled the tank and at 260 miles of driving I'd fill up again. I eventually bought a new pump assembly on Amazon and had a buddy replace it. No more bouncing and that was 2 years ago.
