My fueld gauge when I first start the engine bounces from full to empty rapidly. After the engine has run for a few minutes the gauge settles but it never goes below the half tank mark. What could be wrong?

Fuel level sender has started to go bad. In most applications, the sender is part of the fuel pump and is not separately replaceable. Not to mention that you have to drop the fuel tank to get to the sender and pump. It could be a wiring fault, but again, you'd have to drop the tank to access the wiring on top of the tank to troubleshoot further.
