Gas Gauge... Nearly Working
Hello, everyone. Over Christmas break, I replaced my fuel pump & sending unit to try and finally fix my fuel gauge not working. Now it works great... when in park or neutral.
But when in drive, the gauge doesn't seem to be reading accurately.
For example, I took a trip today, which should use about 1/4 tank. but instead of dropping from 3/4 to 1/2, the gas gauge stayed around 3/4 tank. But at a light, as soon as I shifted from drive to a neutral, it snapped to the correct 1/2 tank reading! Then it slowly creeped back up to the 3/4 tank reading while driving.
Some things I have checked:
-My scan tool can command the gas gauge to full and empty in both drive and park.
-The resistance from the connector to chassis ground is a nice 0.5 ohms.
-the gauge snaps to the correct value if I go from drive to park. It then stays there a while in drive before creeping back up slowly.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to check next? And happy new year!
