I was driving and started noticing the smell of gas in the cabin and when I got gas there was so much back pressure in the tank that once I unscrewed the gas cap it blew off and fumed for several minutes. Anyone know what this could be and how to fix this?

 

Is the check engine light on? What codes are in memory. Most likely the EVAP vent solenoid is stuck closed.

 

i have a 1999 blazer and I smell gas fumes also ! the code on mine was a e-vap code, something to do with the emissions ! maybe it's the gas cap or the vent hose on the tank !

 

Yea I had a few codes for the EVAP system. My fuel pressure gauge was busted and I have to replace my EVAP valve solenoid.
