Default gas smell trouble

I have a 95 4 door 4x4 and currently I am having a very strong gas smell coming from the left rear of the truck the fuller the tank the worse the smell is I have crawled around underneath the truck both while it was running and while it was shut off and I could not find any visible leaks anywhere. I was wondering if it could be the vent tube from the tank to the filler, the filler hose, or possibly the canister in my fender? open to any and all suggestions I have replaced the gas cap and that didn't do any good

nope it just smells really bad you get within 3 feet of my truck and you just start smelling gas no trouble lights or anything and no VISIBLE leak doesnt mean its not leaking I just couldnt find one, runs fine doesnt smell at all inside just around the left rear corner where I fill up

Check the lines going to/from the tank and the cansister. Odds are one of them have dry rotted on you.

try feeling up around the top of the tank. i had an old toyota pick up that leaked at the sending unit and the gas would evaporate before it made it anywhere you could see it

do you have a plastic cover at the front of the tank? mine was the same way and stunk of gas. I knew i had a pin hole leak in the middle of the tank but when i pulled it i had an even worse leak under the plastic guard. there should be a hole in the guard, try sticking a finger or rag in to see if its leaking between the plastic and tank

well over $200 later I have fixed the problem went to drop the tank turns out it was seeping gas out of the bottom and for a temporary repair I patched it with fiberglass resin when I could still smell it I bought a new tank then upon dropping the old one I discovered the lines on the sending unit were shot so I replaced the sending unit as well. Now I no longer smell any gas, O also had it smoked to try and find the problem guy told me it was on top of tank but didnt know where it was and was gonna charge $270 to drop the tank, hopefully this helps someone in the future
