mine was doing this too on my 90 fullsized chevy. id smell a whiff here and there and never seen anything. i changed the pump like 6 months earlier and figured i left something loose. anyways for me it was the return line was rotted. just enough where it kept the rusty line wet but never really dripped. so just hacked and patched
