I want to say they will fit, they just went with the plastic tank to save costs. The plugs on the pump itself might be different...

I would stick with the metal tank since you know that fits. If you are buying a new pump don't cheap out and buy a crappy one.

I second this ^.

For what it's worth, I tried going to amazon and finding a fuel pump for my '97, then I switched their vehicle filter to 'Check Fit' for my '02, and any Delphi pump that fit the one did not fit the other. FWIW the same was true (not swappable) when I tested the "fuel tank vent valve". My '97 has the metal tank, and my '02 has the plastic tank, so the scenario is similar. However that doesn't answer whether you can swap the actual tank itself, with all components intact..

But unfortunately, when I repeat the process for
this tank this tank
or
this tank this tank
(both 18 gallon tanks, supposedly for 4 door Blazers), they still don't seem to be swappable. One guy commented on the Spectra..

Not a direct fit for a 98 blazer 4-dr 4x4. After hours of smacking and bending the tank edges and a tiedown strap later I got it in there but it does not fit well enough for one of the straps to even begin to fit around it.
So while this is not definitive proof of anything, it suggests that while it is not a perfect 1:1 fit, it is doable if you're willing to put up with a struggle.

As a last thought.... I have had to mess with the evap vent solenoid on both my 97 and my 02, and I can tell you certainty, while the electrical connectors on those parts DID fit, their fuel line fittings did NOT fit, and I was not able to swap the component. (I'd hoped to test it in the second vehicle to prove to myself it was the problem component.)
