Default gauge gremlins

After installing a pioneer cd player in my 98 blazer the fuel gauge stopped working as did the temp gauge. the low fuel light stays on and the battery light remains on as well. any help would be appreciated

Did you use an adapter harness when installing the radio? If so, make sure you tape off the ends of any unused wires so they don't short out, and double check the harness for any pins that may have gotten bent when plugging it in. Also, check all of the fuses in the fuse box to make sure they are no blown. The 98 is a pretty staright forward radio installation and I don't see any reason why you would have this issue. I have been installing professionally for over 15 years, and have never ran into this.

I would un-install the radio electrically and see if it corrects the problem. If it doesnt, then you need to find the failed/damaged part. If the guages wrk correctly, then you can recheck everything you did during the install.

If I goof something up (Or am not sure,) I try to go back to the original configuration.
Good Luck!

Saw the issue & thought grounds right away too. After having the underhood fuse box out & it wouldn't get gas, light didn't work, fuel guage didn't work & a few other things it turned out to be the ground under the fuse box. It's the ground for all the relays, no wonder a lot got messed up. Even though they all tested OK for power there wasn't any ground for them to actuate.
They like to group closely placed things to common grounds.
