Hi all,
My 96 4wd has a rotten frame but otherwise is in great shape. I found a 2001 2wd with a bad motor cheap. I was thinking of swapping the motor, tranny and transfer case, etc into the 2001. Am I oversimplifying this or is this a bad idea?
Any comments would be welcome and thanks for your input

You will find that the time involved,as well as the expense,in chasing down the different electrical & braking systems used in these two units may prove prohibitive! Yes,the frames are the same to allow bolt up,but all the ancillary issues will need to be addressed upon re-assembly! 20 or so years ago a friend thought to do the same with a 1980 C-20,to make into a K-20.He had the whole driveline...ended up costing him 7 months and $4000! He could have bought a 1980 K-20 at that point for...$4000! Get my point? When my 96 Jimmy rusted out I found a rust free 97 and swapped over all good parts and body panels, only took me a weekend, and ended up with an easy job to boot! Think this one through! My best to you!
