So I get my first blazer a week ago! and as of this week I have driven a Ford Excort 4 out of the 7 days becuase mine has been in the shop with the heat not working, U joints, and now the check engine light comes on!
Is it safe to drive with that light on? When I start it starts great then I go into drive and it is really sluggish for like 2 minutes then it is fine. Could that be the transmission?

First, don't criticize the Blazer when you bought it knowing (or you should have known) that it would need those repairs. Hopefully you knew they were needed and reduced the purchase price accordingly.
A check engine light usually doesn't mean STOP NOW, but until you have the shop pull the codes you don't know whether or not it will damage the car to drive it. Don't take a chance - have the shop pull the codes and tell you what they mean, and then you can either have it fixed immediately or determine how safe it is to drive until you can have it fixed. when buy
And the sluggish problem is probably due to whatever's causing the check engine light, not the transmission.
