Default guages bouncing

I have a 2002 chevy blazer xtreme with a 4.3 liter engine. all the gauges in the instrument panel are bouncing back and forth. if I hold the trip reset button in the problem stops. I took it to advance auto parts to see if it showed any codes but none were given. the guy there told me to disconnect the battery to reset computer. any ideas I thank you

Just a guess but I might think there is a power connection flickering behind or near the trip reset button. If you are saying that the power to the gauges is flickering on and off and you push the button stops.... Sounds like an electrical issue near the point of pressure. Just a guess... Good Luck!
