Default half shaft issue

alright, i was doing my ball joints and was taking it all apart and while i was pulling the half shaft out. (undid the nut, tapped it out. pulled the knuckle off and what not) the thing inside the cv joint fell apart, it has three roller bearings in it and what not, i cannot remember what its called at all! i went to go buy a new one was told you cannot buy just this little thing with the three bearings, you can only buy an entire axel assembly, and of course they didnt have it in stock.

so i came home and reassembled the roller bearing thing as best i could, it is back together but i couldn't find a few of the needle bearings, i think its missing 4 or 5. it spins free and there is no excess play. im hoping it will be ok but im skeptical. whats my best soultion here. can i buy just that part?

sorry im new here, and i feel like an idiot for not knowing what im talking about in this situation

Default RE: half shaft issue

If you are missing even one needle bearing, it will destroy it. Just go ahead and buy a new or remanufactured axle and be done with it. They would come with a lifetime warranty and you wouldn't have to worry about the boot clamps.
If you know any shops, you can get the shaft thru them since they get a better deal. Most of the shops around me get the axles for $40. Even if not, you can pick up a brand new one for $70 or a reman'd one for $60 exchanged.
