Unhappy hard to start

starting my 2000 blazer was hard. it was cranking and no start but second try it will start right away. so i thought maybe its time for a tune up so i changed my air filter, my cap and rotor also the spark plugs and wiring. i cleaned my maf sensor and my egr valve. but it didnt change on starting. my next thing will be changing my battery cables bc when i took my car to the firestone they told me i need to replace them. i dont know how to do it and any other suggestion what could it be a problem. i do have a sound system in my car but my lights dont dim or flicker. but when i accelerate if i pass 3000rpm my lights will dim i noticed that.

Have you checked fuel pressure and leakdown?

When the pump is running, engine off, pressure must be 60psi to 66psi.
When the pump shuts off, pressure will drop slightly but it must remain above 55psi for at least 10 minutes.

In your first post you said the starter was cranking, doubtful that's the problem. What were your pressure readings for fuel pressure? How long did it remain above 55psi?

like captainhook said the psi must be at 60psi when you start... the central port injection is a weird and bad idea in my book and WILL NOT open the injectors on start up unless there is 60psi at the unit... 59.5psi wont open the injectors even... when you crank for about 3-4 seconds the vaccumm fuel pressure regulator kicks in and will drop the psi to around 43psi... a few other things to think about--- distributor shaft is carbon fiber and is known to twist and throw off cam position sensor, the cam position sensor itself could be bad, crank sensor could be bad but those should throw a code---- does your tach move when you crank?
