hi all, MY Head Lights-turn off going down the road, you can flip the switch off and than back on and they will come back on and sometimes they will start flashing on and off also seems to do it more frequently on high beams but does it as well on low..this dont make sense to me i changed the on/off/park lite switch done nothing.
Guess my question is, is this problem caused by the dimmer switch in the steering column it is the only other thing i can figure.

What are you driving? Automatic headlights? Could be the ambient light sensor going bad.

Ok, so auto headlights are out...

Does it only do this when you have the lights on? Do the DRLs (daytime running lights) do the same thing?

 

I didn't think 95s had DRL.

 

You are probably right. I was stuck in the later 2nd gen frame of mind.

 

no it does not have DRL'S i also checked for dead shorts and could not find anything there either... so ?? most likely than it is the dimmer switch in the steering column ?? there really is nothing else is there....

 

If you wiggle the turn signal stalk, do the lights kick on and off?

Ok, so if it only happens when the lights are on, then you can rule out shorted wires under the hood somewhere (not sure if that is what you meant by your earlier comment).

Try wiggling the turn signal stalk and let us know. It is quite possible that the multifunction switch is to blame for the fluctuations.
