Default heat with ac

I am pretty sure that my blend door actuator is starting to malfunction, based on that went it is set to cool and you still feel heat and the when on AC it don't cool well, especially on hot days. I am getting ready to make a trip in about 8 days. So with the short time window of opportunity I have a question. could I put a manual valve on the heater hose with out hurting any thing or should I just bypass the heater core?

I have done it in the past without consequence, hopefully people who know better will chime in as I would like to do the same.

Since many of us here have had to clear a blocked heater core I'd say there's no impact to clamping off the heater hose as there are multiple water paths.

you could put a valve on it i guess. i dont see how that would hurt anything. but why not take the actuator off and either replace or just set the door where it needs to be and then put the actuator back on. its a little difficult, but do-able without taking the dash out.

due to a limited amount of time I was thinking that a valve could be a quick fix

Are you sure you don't need to charge up your ac system?
