Exclamation

Its a 98 blazer LT 4wd 4 door if this helps any. got some codes about egr malfunction cant fix it as i could not find anything helpful about it. now i have a terrible time driving it. more noticeable after thrush glasspack. it sounds like its putting as i drive at any speed less at idle.

fuel pump is pretty new and i have had dist cap and rotor replaced a year ago and 5 months ago my intake manifold gaskets were replaced due to coolant all over tranny. i read something about if the mechanics did not reset the timing right or if its off a tooth or 2 it will do this. but it was fine months ago but not now. and the oil pressure stays pretty high sometimes.

not sure if its related or not. something i read said to wiggle the computer wires and that fixes it but doesnt sound like a good idea. and oil pressure in the manual is between i think 16 and 30?? but it seems to stay around 30 to 40. any help would be awesome as i starting college soon and money is always tight. thanks.

also what kind of plugs does anyone recommend i have tried the bosch v3 platinum and now its a ac i think or something. i heard ac delco but not sure.

What were the specific codes?

AC Delco double platinums are the recommended plugs. Many who try anything else, especially the gimic multi-ground plugs like Bosch, are disappointed.

I run AC DELCO PLATINUM plugs. They have been in my Blazer over 65,000 miles & still run great.

i was running autolite platinums and i tried bosch wasn't impressed at all. and i heard ac delco arent a bad plug. the code if i remember right was a p0440 evap emissions control system malfunction. and i can usually smell gas right after driving. and it only comes on in colder months up here in MI. but i couldn't start it at all other day and a gray smoke came out from the air cleaner when it tried to turn over with no luck. even starting fluid wouldn't help start it.

If you can smell gas, you likely have a leak. I would look in the area behind the driver side rear tire which is the location of the EVAP charcoal canister. Things can kick up there and break the canister which can result in a fuel smell.

For other troubleshooting steps, see the code sheet below:
