Help! Code P0440
That was something I thought about but I don't like the idea of getting under my car while gas leaks out. Plus, if I have to drop the tank I'd rather not have a full tank of gas.
What I decided on is doing a DIY smoke test. I'm pretty confident the that the leak is coming from either above the fuel filter or somewhere in the fill neck assembly. Hopefully I'll be able to get to it tonight if the weather stays solid.
If it is coming from the top of the fuel pump, is it possible that my pump locking ring is upside down? I noticed that it has a bump on the top and perhaps that is there to push the fuel filter down harder. IDK though...

Ok I did a DIY smoke test and it is as I fear, the fuel pump seal. I didn't even need to pressurize the system and smoke was just billowing the top of the fuel tank. This must be where fuel spills out when I top off.
Here is a little gif I took of it:

So I've got a mechanic friend who'll charge me $50 drop the tank and replacing the seal (fuel pump seems fine) so I think I'm just going to have him do it.
I bought a new seal and locking ring off of amazon. I'm hoping this is all I need but please let me know if I bought the wrong ones.
