Default Help with the dreaded AIRBAG light

I have a 98 s10 Blazer 4x4, 4.3 Vortec , LS model. The airbag light will not stay off. But this is not always the case. Sometimes it will cycle through it's test, and turn off. Other times, it will cycle through its test and stay on. The truck had been sitting in the drive way for over a year, so I know it's not anything knocked loose through driving. (Just finished rebuild on the engine, with new head gasket).
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DONE: *(After disconnecting the battery, and letting it sit for 30 minutes), I located the main computer under the center console, and the 2 front sensors under the bumper. Disconnected each, reconnected them - this led to the light staying off after its test the next 4 times I started the car. It worked fine for 2 days (still while the truck sat undriven). Then BAM, third day the light stays on after its cycle. Tried wiggling the wires to computer and sensors, but no effect.

Without paying $75 for a local garage to diagnose this, is there anyway else to figure out what needs done? Is this a symptom of a bad sensor or computer? I suspected a lose ground somewhere, but it went bad without me even driving.

Any ideas?

(thanks in advance..)

The ABS module performs a self test each time the ignition is turned to the RUN position. During the self test, if an impact sensor fails, the module will test it 2 more times. If it does not pass, the ABS light will be illuminated, and a DTC will be set in memory. Retrieving the DTC's with a capable scan tool will tell what circuit malfunctioned. It will NOT tell you a certain part has failed, or needs replacement. The diagnostic flow chart must be followed to determine the problem. Disconnecting the battery does nothing as far as "resetting", "rebooting", or clearing DTC's, basically a waste of time.
