First of all, why are you replacing the ECU?! What's wrong with the one that's in there now?

You're "supposed" to get the EEPROM erased and re-programmed by a GM dealership, but I think you can plug it in and give it a shot if it came out of the same vehicle you have. Worst case (assuming it's good!), the security system may freak out and shutdown the engine. I don't think 2000 has the programmed ignition keys, but I'm not 100% certain.

Yeah, I'm not an expert on this but I think the only thing you might have to worry about would be like Helo said and the security system freaking out. But as mentioned, I don't think they had the programmed keys in 2000. So I would probably say give it a shot and see what happens.

You might want to start looking at swapping your transmission instead of your ECU... see what kind of deal you can get from your junkyard. Hell, they might even do the swap for a small fee.

The ECU deals with just about everything, but that doesn't mean it's the root of your issue(s).

I'd bet your ecu isn't the problem according to your other thread. You said you may have gotten a significant volume of water in your tranny... ? The ECU is a fairly resilient watertight box... you'd have bigger problems if it was fried.
