Cool HELP!!! Problem with brakes!!!!

Have a 1999 with brake problems. Have no pressure. Pedal goes all the way to the floor. Replaced master cylinder to no avail. Have bled all calipers and no air in the lines. When I do apply the brakes, sounds like metal on metal. Pads are like new!! When the brakes are applied looks like the calipers are working, you can see them move.

Did you make sure to fully bench bleed the replacement master cylinder before you installed it?

Sounds like you either have a bad master cylinder or still have air in the master cylinder.

I don't see how it can be the master cylinder. Every time a bleed the brakes, the fluid level in the reservoir drops.

I've bought a brand new master cylinder before that was busted. Happened to our 'Burb.

A drop in fluid level does not prove or disprove anything that I have said... You can have a bad master cylinder (with a leaky seal) that will still push fluid out when a bleeder is opened. It will still hold a bit of pressure in the lines, just not what it is intended to deliver.

And air in the master cylinder can still be a problem. You may not be pushing the master cylinder through a full stroke when using the brake pedal. That is why it is always recommended to bench bleed the MC so you can ensure that you are working the MC fully.

Yea. After I thought about it, even if there is air in the mc, the booster should press the air out, thus dropping the fluid level. My bad. I'm going to keep bleeding the lines and hope that the problem rectifies itself.

Ok, have bled the lines (again for the 3rd time) with the same results. Took off the mc and bench bled it a second time, same results. Pedal still goes to the floor. When I was bleeding the left front, I watched the reservoir and saw it gurgle. I don't think it's to be doing that. Bad mc or maybe the o-rings?
