Hey Guys,

So there was a flood here and my 2000 LT stalled out. I replaced the air filter, dried out the air intake arm, the MAF sensor and changed the engine oil and eventually it started up. I also checked the trans fluid for water on the dipstick and it doesn't seem to have water on it.

A day or two later its been idling high at start-up, 1500 rpm, and its been revving higher than normal on first shift. Also, I'm not getting the check engine light on the dash (yet). What could be the problem?

I read that it could be the TPS or the IAC.

Lastly, can I drive it on the highway in the meantime until I can replace/check the sensors?

 

Fixed it! Throttle position sensor on the throttle body. It has 2 torx screws though so be ready for that and you'll have to remove the upper radiator hose clamp and disconnect the hose.

 

Sounds like the problem I have. So you replaced the TPS or just adjusted it? I don't even know what it looks like.

 

When I hit some high water last winter Got about a half mile and engine started running weird. High idle and then stalling out. Thought it might be the TPS, but turned out that the engine must have choked or backfired in the intake and popped the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) out of the upper intake. Shoved it back in and back to normal.
