Default Is his LIM install guide correct?

In the sticky helpful posts section is a link for replacing the lower intake manifold for a 99 GMC 4.3L. In the summary section is says to torque the bolts to 35 ft lbs. All the other guides and I saw and the one I used says 132 inch lbs which I thought equals 11 ft lbs. Is the GMC 4.3L different? Just having one of those "Did I screw up" moments.

Installation:

  • Set new gaskets in place and apply silicone to flat areas on front and rear of engine block.
  • Apply thread locking compound to manifold bolts.
  • Install manifold and tighten bolts to 35 ft-lbs, in proper sequence.
  • Install distributor.
  • Install upper intake manifold.

Good..I feel better now. What would happen if someone followed those instructions? Warped manifold?

If you don't snap off a bolt, you will most certainly over compress the gasket, compromising its integrity.
