Default My buddy finally Junked his silverado i get vortec 305

I got some good news, after many years of good service my good friend finally junked his 97 silverado. I get his motor to put in my 96 blazer, it will be a slow build as i dont plan on putting the motor in till at least september. i will be taking pics of the motor when i get it thinking bout a rering and maybe a zz4 cam. Any suggestions are a plus i will be building the motor mounts my self. And anything else i will need i will be welding up myself the wiring. I think will be very simple because he is cutting all the plugs out for me. I am super stoked.

No offense, I understand you got the motor for free but the power gains are very minimal (20hp, 40tq) to me, all the work required to get that motor in there isn't worth such a small gain. I would go for a 5.7L swap at the bare minimum. Much better gain and it responds better to mods than the 305 does.

Noted but a free running motor is a free motor. If i dont like it then i will pull it out and go with some thing else. Not that big of deal thins like this are what i got my blazer for. Its my tinker toy not my dailly

Don't forget about the manifolds. Stock truck manifolds won't work. To big. Either 3rd gen camaro manifolds or headers would be needed. And as was meantioned it won't be that fast. I put a stock 350 in my 95 out of a van. And it was almost like a good running 4.3 with crappy mileage. But it did burnouts like a sob. All of first all of second and most of 3rd
